The member representing Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta House of Assembly, Hon. Reuben Izeze has threatened to drag the former Minister of State (Education), Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi to court for accusing him of being part of the brains behind the alleged inhuman treatment meted out to four staff of Signatious hotel in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.
Management of the hotel was last week alleged to have stripped naked, photographed, arrested and prosecuted four former staff for stealing some amount of money.
The development led to public outcries by members of the public especially human right activists who staged a peaceful protest on Friday and the raiding of the hotel said to be owned by Gbagi by the Police on the same day.
Speaking exclusively on phone with NewsNet on Monday, Izeze said, he does not want to join issues with Gbagi in the media saying he hopes to meet him in court on the false accusation.
“I have briefed my lawyers on the matter and they shall respond appropriately,” Izeze stressed.
Speaking on Saturday at a press conference held at his Oginibo country home in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Gbagi alleged that the Delta State Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor and Hon. Reuben Izeze, were the brains behind the four staff of Signatious hotel who were allegedly stripped naked, photographed, arrested and prosecuted in the state.
Gbagi who is aspiring to be governor of Delta state come 2023 said, Mrakpor started troubles for him as according to him, “His intention is to disabuse the minds of Government that am not the right person.”
While noting that he had attracted developments to his hometown and other neighbouring Communities, Gbagi said the Attorney-General& Commissioner for Justice believes he is the greatest threat to his governorship ambition in the area. “Hence, he will go to any length politically.”
NewsNet gathered that two weeks ago an audio clip where the former Minister of State for Education allegedly accused Reuben Izeze, of murder and sponsoring thuggery surfaced on social media.
In the audio recording, Gbagi was alleged to have accused Izeze of spoiling the image of Oginibo town claiming that he sent the lawmaker to the House of Assembly not knowing he had “no character”.
