6-room building, church razed, a victim hospitalised in Warri

An inferno at the early hours of today (Saturday) engulfed the entire building on number 58 market road by Ikpara water-side in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The fire incident which started around 2am according to Directreporters consumed property yet to be evaluated and injured some persons.

The inferno destroyed the building with six rooms and a church built closely behind it.

An elderly woman identified as Mrs Mama Baby, who was injured in the fire outbreak was rushed to the World of Life Bible Church Hospital, Warri, for treatment.

Narrating her ideal, Mama Baby said she was helpless and yelled for help when she managed to escape from her room.

An aide to the Delta State governor on Special Duties, Mr Edwin Afejuku, visited the scene of the fire and the hospital where the victim is receiving treatment.

Afejuku appealed to relevant authorities particularly the fire service to respond on time when such fire incident occurs.

The cause of the inferno was yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
