The President-General of Evwreni Clan Improvement Union of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, Prince (Chief) Kenneth Ukpebitere has raised alarm over a plot by some highly placed individuals in the kingdom to cause an intra-communal crisis.

Recall that Evwreni Kingdom, until December 2023 when Chief Ukpebitere emerged as the President-General of the kingdom experienced protracted security breaches with reported cases of deaths.

Ukpebitere in a statement electronically sent to NewsNet Nigeria fingered prominent backers of his main challenger in the election into Evwreni Clan Improvement Union (ECIU) held on December 16, 2023, behind the plan to once again unleash terror and disrupt the fragile peace currently enjoyed in the kingdom.

He alleged that those behind the plot who are notable indigenes of the kingdom are sponsoring three members of his cabinet to create a difficult atmosphere for him as the President-General to deliver the dividends of his manifesto to the people.

Evwreni Kingdom PG said, “Don’t forget that within the period of Bright Adjogbe administration, there were acts of terrorism in the Kingdom which led to the killing of sons of the kingdom and the burning down of property worth billions of Naira such that so many persons are on self-exile simply because they no longer have a home of their own to stay in the kingdom.

“A member of the elected executive, Mr. Andrews Dodo (P.R.O) called for an emergency Executive meeting without full detailed instruction from the President General. Mr. Andrew Dodo did not only call for an Emergency meeting but there was a caveat by the troublers. They said that only the elected eight Executive members will attend the meeting. Meanwhile, the constitution recognizes the eight elected and appointed executive members to be in all Executive meetings.

“The President-General being a peaceful man called off the executive meeting called by Mr. Andrew Dodo (P.R.O) and immediately called for another emergency meeting on the same day 8th March, 2024 but different venue.

The Executive in attendance at the meeting are as follows: Chief Ukpebitere Kenneth – President-General, Prince Sunday Okpere – Vice President General, Daniel Amrohere E. – Secretary General, Hon. Desmond Okpako Duke – Ex-Official, Pastor Omuyoma John – Ex-Official, Obuks Joshua Usiada – Ex-Official, Ogborko Stephen – Auditor 1, Pastor Oyibochi Andrew O. – Financial Secretary General, Ishaka Clement A. – Treasurer General, Andrew Dodo – P.R.O General, Etabiko O. Moses – Auditor 2.

“The meeting was declared open with an opening prayer led by Pastor Oyibochi Andrew O. Thereafter, Mr President exalted the house with words of encouragement and how the kingdom can be in peace and build on the existing peace brought by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oberovwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State and to key into the MORE agenda of the State Governor.

“The President General asked for the agenda of the day from Mr Dodo since he was the instrument used by the troublers parties that call for the first emergency meeting even though the President General called it off. Prince Sunday Okpare, Ishaka Clement, and Andrew Dodo listed the agenda as follows: Letter to the outgone President General for proper handling over to the present executive, Visitation tour to all relevant companies operating in Evwreni Kingdom, Community Security e.t.c.

“The meeting ended in a fiasco as Mr Andrew Dodo Ishaka Clement & Okpere Sunday wanted to impose their back door meeting decision on the Executive.

“The President General Chief Ukpebitere Kenneth is hereby notifying the general public and relevant government agencies of the present situation in Evwreni Kingdom.”
