The Office of Senator Ned Nwoko has issued a clarification following recent online discussions and what it described as misleading reports concerning the status of the Issele-Uku mini stadium project.

In a statement signed by Dr. Michael Nwoko, Chief of Staff to Senator Ned Nwoko, the office confirmed that the project is still under construction and has not yet been completed or officially handed over to the Delta State Sports Commission.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the project is still under construction and has not yet been completed or officially handed over to the Delta State Sports Commission. Some finishing work remains, particularly in the changing rooms and toilet facilities,” the statement read.

Dr. Nwoko emphasized that the mini stadium, which had been abandoned for many years, is the property of the Delta State Government.

He explained that Senator Nwoko’s team only worked on the specific section approved for use by the Delta State Sports Commission in the course of executing the project.

He further clarified that youths in Issele-Uku have been granted temporary access to the facility for daily sporting activities — an arrangement made “purely out of goodwill” and in the spirit of promoting community development and youth engagement.

“The gesture is to encourage sports and community spirit among young people while work on the facility continues,” Dr. Nwoko noted.

The Issele-Uku mini stadium project is one of several community-based initiatives supported by Senator Nwoko aimed at fostering youth development, sports participation, and infrastructure growth across Delta North Senatorial District.
