A frontline contender for the position of President General of Evwreni Clan Improvement Union (ECIU), Chief (Prince) Kenneth Ighomifovwe Ukpebitere has decried the erroneous impression being peddled in a section of the media that a contestant for the president generalship position requires family endorsement.

Evwreni kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State is made up of four communities namely: Uneni community, Okpahwa Community, Urevwe community and Unenurhie community.

Speaking with NewsNet Nigeria today Saturday, Kenneth Ukpebitere, described the statement credited to the head of the Ukpebitere Dynasty, Prince Clement Ukpebitere as political propaganda to score cheap popularity to mislead the people of the kingdom and the general public on the election scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Kenneth Ukpebitere, who hails from Urevwe community slammed Clement Ukpebitere and others who were quoted by an online news platform for allowing themselves to be used by mischief makers in the kingdom to distort the facts about the forthcoming election into the ECIU national executive committee.

“It is either Prince Clement Ukpebitere and others have been heavily induced to say what does not exist or they were misquoted by the online news platform. The issue of family endorsement is alien as it is not a criterion to be met by candidates contesting the position of President General of Evwreni Clan Improvement Union (ECIU).

“To contest for any position in the Evwreni Clan Improvement Union (ECIU) you need not be endorsed by your family. Once you are a member of the Evwreni Clan Improvement Union you are free to contest for any position. It is the delegates who will vote for the rightful candidate.

“Usually Evwreni kingdom holds election every three years for the Evwreni Clan Improvement Union (ECIU). Evwreni Clan Improvement Union (ECIU) is a union in the kingdom that usually governs the affairs, the administrative affairs of the kingdom every three years. At the end of the three years, another election will be conducted for the election of officers to govern the kingdom.

“My very self, (Chief (Prince) Kenneth Ighomifovwe Ukpebitere) I am contesting for the position of the President General to bring about peace, unity and development to the kingdom. The statement credited to my siblings on endorsement is not only diversionary but a blackmail.

“I strongly believe that they were paid by a group of persons, possibly by my opponents who they mentioned in the publication, Chief Simon Asite and Godday Awenuvie.

“Why are they making this publication now? They noticed that I am the most qualified candidate in the race. I am not the only President General candidate, there are other President General candidates. Why are they making a write-up against me? My opponents are afraid. I have come to see that I am going to win the election and that is why they are coming up with this cheap blackmail.

“Come 18th of November 2023, the election will be conducted in Evwreni kingdom and I strongly believe that with God helping me I am going to win the election,” said Kenneth Ukpebitere.

The voting in the election into the Evwreni Clan Improvement Union, scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2023, according to a reliable source in the kingdom is by delegates.

These delegates are drawn from the fifteen branches that form Evwreni Clan Improvement Union in addition to the statutory delegates at home namely the ewheyas, illotu and the youths.

Kenneth called for peace and unity among all irrespective of the divide they belong to have a hitch-free election for the progress and development of the kingdom.
