Mosogar Resort and Palmwine Centre, Mosogar in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State was a beehive of activities laced with fun and glamour on Christmas Day as the new management of the resort introduces certain innovations to make the place more attractive and conducive.

To this end, the new management of the resort on Christmas Day sponsored the Mosogar Cultural Troupe to perform at the place now wearing a new look as part of its contributions to the cultural development of Mosogar Kingdom.

The Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom, Uduaka 1, performed the unveiling of the Mosogar Cultural Dance Troupe.

When the administration of the former governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan built and commissioned the Mosogar Resort and Palmwine Centre, Mosogar, it was among other reasons aimed to take advantage of the palm wine being sold individually by the natives on the busy Warri/Benin Expressway with the risk of road accidents.

Apart from taking the Mosogar palm wine sellers off the highway, the resort has over the years served as a venue for diverse socio-cultural and political events which invariably made the commerce in the area blossom.

To sustain the purpose of the resort which is to open Mosogar town as a tourist destination a new management with Chief Julius Akporokah as arrowhead has had to carry out some renovations to give the resort centre the needed facelift it deserves.

The new management also in its effort to encourage and promote the culture of Mosogar Kingdom on Christmas Day sponsored the Mosogar Cultural Troupe to perform at the resort to the delight of everyone.

The Chief Executive Officer of the new management of the Mosogar Resort and Palmwine Centre, Mosogar, Chief Julius Akporokah, in his welcome address read by his son, Mr Efe Julius Akporokah, recalled when they were growing up they see young girls and boys learning how to dance which they showcase during the Iyeri festival.

Chief Akporokah who said the cultural dance was almost dead thanked the Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom, Uduaka 1, and the President-General of the kingdom for reviving it.

He noted that the dance troupe put together by the Mosogar Secondary School should be extended to other secondary schools in the area such that they can be competing among themselves for awards while at the time promoting the culture of the kingdom.

The Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom promised to encourage and support the group as part of steps towards reviving some aspects of the culture of the kingdom.

Former Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Chris Onogba, who is also the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Ethiope West Constituency in the State House of Assembly for the 2023 general elections described as novel the initiative of the new management of the resort which recommended should be inculcated into the cultural calendar of Mosogar Kingdom.

Chief Onogba decried the too much dependency on oil for the economic survival of Nigeria adding that there are countries without oil but are doing very well with their culture and tourism.

Chief Solomon Obareki Chairman of PDP, Ethiope West Local Government Area, Chief Solomon Obareki and others who spoke expressed delight that conscious efforts are being made to sustain and preserve the cultural values of Mosogar Kingdom.

With the rejuvenated Mosogar Resort and Palmwine Centre, Mosogar, and a new management team, residents in and around Mosogar particularly those who are on holiday for the festive period have a conducive and exciting place to go to catch fun savour the culture of Mosogar Kingdom.
