The need for individuals, no matter their social status, to contribute their quota towards impacting the lives of the less privileged, especially the widows, has been stressed.

An educationist and one of the teachers in Delta State, Rev. General Comrade Chiedu Joseph Mokogwu stated this in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State after his investiture as an Ambassador of All Saints Missionary Army, Naval Air Force Chaplaincy (MANAC) during the widows’ Annual Thanksgiving Service and Investiture of Patrons, Patronesses and Ambassadors of MANAC.

Comrade Mokogwu, who described the honour as a recognition of his unwavering commitment to selfless service to humanity, noted that sacrifice for the lives of vulnerable persons in society should be taken seriously by every well-meaning individual.

He promised to sustain his assistance to the needy as long as there was life, adding that the award was a morale booster to do more.

Also speaking, one of the newly decorated patronesses of MANAC, Barr. Mrs. Maureen Uchechukwu Mokogwu, commended MANAC for finding her worthy of the honour, describing her installation as a welcome development.

Barr. (Mrs.) Maureen Mokogwu called on Nigerians to rally round the widows of fallen heroes by supporting their families.

Earlier, the Chief Inspector of Education for Oshimili South, Deaconess Lady Emiliana Djoma, an Ambassadorial awardee of MANAC, stated that their responsibility was to help provide support and necessary counselling to the widows left behind by the Nigerian fallen heroes who died either on the battlefield or from natural death.

Djoma, however, referenced the case of the death of Dorcas in the Bible, who, even as a widow before her death, was rendering support to her fellow widows; hence, her death was painful to other widows.

In his sermon, the Director of State Coordinator of MANAC said that the core value of MANAC was to extend help to deserving persons, particularly wives of deceased military officers who were in dire need of assistance due to the condition they found themselves in.

Ogbonna noted that extending help to others was the best way to attract blessings from God.
