A 32-year-old single mother, Happy Emeoghorkoghene, a native of Edjeba community in Warri South Local Government Area, has been rendered bedridden since January 2020 following her involvement in a ghastly motor accident along Eku-Osubi road.
Emmeoghirokoghene, who is partially blind is unable to walk and needs to undergo hip surgery.
She has a child who according to her is unable to go to school because of her conditions.
The case of Happy Emeoghorkoghene can be likened to the novel “One Week One Trouble” written by Anezi Okoro, as for over a decade she has been faced with one challenge or the other.
Her travail started in 2010 when a mere itching of the eye resulted in her losing the ability to see properly.
In order to raise funds for her eyes operation, Miss Happy narrated how she was duped by a friend who advised her to buy motorcycles so she could get returns from their daily trips.
Her inability to see properly prompted Happy Emeoghorkoghene to engage her niece who helped her move around when needed.
On the 5th of January 2020, Miss Happy with the aid of her niece boarded a tricycle going to Osubi with the intention of securing a business deal but was unfortunately involved in an accident that left her with a broken leg and fractured hip.
Due to her inability to afford the medical bills at Government Hospital Ekpan and Central Hospital Warri, she opted for a Trado-medical practitioner, in what seemed to be a cheap option.
After several months with a trado-medical practitioner, the broken leg was not getting better forcing her to return to the hospital from where she was referred to a Specialist Hospital in Sapele.
In November 2020, she underwent the operation after paying the sum of 1.2 million naira.
Emmeoghirokoghene’s troubles did not stop after the leg surgery as she kept feeling pains in her hips which prevented her from standing and walking.
She had a scan done and it was diagnosed that she had a fractured hip as a result of the accident and this has made it difficult for her to walk.
Happy Emeoghorkoghene needs 2.5 million naira to undergo hip surgery to enable her to walk and work again as she does not intend to remain a liability.
All donations to Happy Emmeoghvrokoghene should be paid into Access Bank, 1488459465, with the name, Happy Emeoghorkoghene.
