Over 60 Catholic Bishops are expected to grace the ordination and installation of Rt. Rev. Monsignor Anthony Ovayero Ewherido as Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Warri.
The notification for the episcopal ordination and installation of the Bishop-elect slated for Thursday, February 9, 2023, was contained in today’s Sunday bulletins of Catholic parishes under the Warri Diocese.
It issued by the chairman of the planning committee, Very Rev. Fr. (Prof) Jude Obiunu on behalf of the Apostolic Administrator, His Grace, Most Rev. Augustine Obiora Akubeze.
The event is scheduled to begin with the Holy Mass at 10am at The Holy Martyrs of Uganda Minor Seminary, Enerhen Road, Effurun near Warri, Delta State.
The Papal declaration announcing the Bishop-elect was made Wednesday, December 28, 2022, by Archbishop Augustine Akubeze at the Sacred Heart Cathedral of the Catholic Church Warri.
Ewherido, 62, who hails from Ewu-Urhobo in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State was until his elevation three weeks ago, the Rector of S. S. Peter and Paul, Major Seminary, Ibadan.
He becomes the second indigenous Bishop of Warri Diocese after Bishop John Afareha who retired in the second quarter of 2022.
