The Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, Owahwa II in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State has charged Nigerians to be diligent in every endeavour towards realising their potential and building a formidable country.
Owahwa II gave the charge on Saturday, June 11, 2022, when the national leadership of the Alumni Association of Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun, paid him a courtesy visit.
It was a reunion of some sort with a royal colour between the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom and the alumni and students of his Alma mater, PTI, Effurun.
Addressing the national leadership of the Alumni and the Students Union Government, the traditional ruler of Ughievwen Kingdom expressed his excitement about their visit saying he is a proud alumnus of the Petroleum Training Institute.
While noting that diligence is always rewarded with the fate of the recipients decided on their behalf, the Ughievwen monarch urged Nigerians, particularly workers and students to always give their best in any endeavour.
He pledged to support the Alumni and the institute, especially on the golden anniversary of the school coming up later in the year.
The National President of the Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun Alumni Association, Engineer Augustine Uwedjojehwe said that the Association was proud of the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, who is the only monarch the institute has produced.
Engineer Uwedjojehwe told the Okobaro that their visit was to inform and solicit his support towards the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun.
He also urged the youths in the state to shun idleness and go to school or learn a skill in order to be self-reliant and useful to their communities.
The Principal of the Petroleum Training Institute, Dr Henry Adimula, who was represented by Mr Alphonsus Kaka said that the institute has improved tremendously noting that it is now offering Master’s degrees in the oil section as well as national skills acquisition.
The President of PTI Students Union Government and others who spoke said they were awed by the fact that the Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom is an alumnus of their school.
The Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom was honoured by the Alumni of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun and also presented an award as the Patron of the Real Distinguished Nigerian by the Nigeria Community and Research Consortium.
