Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, two of his predecessors, Chief James Ibori and Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan are among eminent personalities expected to grace the grand reception of the 21 days rites of passage of the Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom, HRM, Samson Okirhioboh Imoyin-Omene, Udurhie 1.
Recall that the Otota of the Kingdom, Chief Ighoyota Amori, had on Saturday, December 18, 2021, broke the news of the demise of the first monarch of the Kingdom while briefing journalists at the Mosogar Civic Centre.
A statement by the head of media of the planning committee for the 21 days rites of passage for the monarch, Ovie Bethel, said the ceremony is scheduled to take place tomorrow Friday, April 22, 2022, at the palace off Chief Ighoyota Amori Drive, Mosogar town in Ethiope West Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Ochor Christopher Ochor, a host of National and State Assembly members, Civil Commissioners, other top government functionaries and invited guests from far and near are also expected to attend the ceremony.
The statement quoted the Otota of the Kingdom, Chief Ighoyota Amori as saying that all plans have been concluded to make the event a memorable one when he paid an inspection to the palace.
All indigenes and friends of the Kingdom have been enjoined to attend and be seated by 10am prompt as attendance for the Grand Reception is mandatory.
The demised Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom, HRM, Samson Okirhioboh Imoyin-Omene, Udurhie 1 was crowned (coronated) as the kingdom’s first king immediately after the creation of the kingdom in 2006.
He was subsequently presented Staff of Office in 2007 by the then governor of the state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, who was ably represented by his Deputy, His Excellency Chief Benjamin Elue.
