The International Human Rights Protection Service (IHRPS) has appointed Ambassador Freeman Mac-Anthony Aghogho Afatakpa as its South-South Zonal Director for Youth Affairs.
The IHRPS is an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) charged with the protection and promotion of human rights globally.
Speaking at an investiture ceremony held in Warri, the National President of the IHRPS, Dr Charles Omini, said the award/appointment was in recognition of the selfless efforts of the recipient in the prevention of human rights abuses in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
Dr Omini noted that human rights are inalienable rights given to mankind by God and the law that should be enforced globally without sentiments.
He commended Amb. Freeman Mac-Anthony Aghogho Afatakpa for his active role in promoting the enforcement of human rights in defense of the weak and downtrodden.
Dr Omini expressed confidence that the award and appointment of Amb. Freeman Mac-Anthony Aghogho Afatakpa as the South-South Zonal Director for Youth Affairs of the International Human Rights Protection Services which is in collaboration with the Nigeria Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will spur him to do more.
Responding, Amb. Freeman Mac-Anthony Aghogho Afatakpathanked the international body for the recognition and appointment, noting that it will help to strengthen his commitment in matters of human rights.
Amb. Freeman Mac-Anthony Aghogho Afatakpa who is also the Chairman/CEO, De-Leo Group of Companies promised to continue to champion the cause of the common man.
He noted that millions of people in Nigeria suffer from human rights violation and pledged to use his good office to ensure their protection and adequate compensation paid to them where necessary.
Amb. Freeman Mac-Anthony Aghogho Afatakpa urged anyone whose rights is being violated to report to the office of the organisation near them.
