One-time Chairman, Western Zone of Ijaw National Congress, INC, Chief S. Y. Mamamu, has died at the age of 91.

Chief William Mamamu and Faith Mamamu in a statement confirmed his passage on behalf of the family and children.
Several prominent Ijaw leaders thronged his residence at Okumagba Layout in Warri South Local Government Area on Friday to condole with the family of the outspoken Ijaw elder statesman, who until his death was the Founder and General Overseer of God’s Ministry (C.G.S) Int. Inc, Salvation City, New Ogbe-Ijoh, also known as Indoun Tamarau-ama in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
He was also the President, Odidi Federated Community Elders Council, National Leader of OML 42 Host Communties and the Torudiwei of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.
NewsNet Nigeria learnt that Delta State Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro was among the early sympathisers to the departed Ijaw leader.
The Deputy Governor on his official Facebook timeline wrote, “I woke up this morning to the sad news of the passing of a father, leader and an Elder Statesman, Chief (Dr.) S.Y Mamamu. The late Chief (Dr.) S.Y Mamamu was one-time Chairman of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) Western Zone who served the Ijaw nation with great faith and commitment.
“His works of community service and peace-building will forever be missed.
“My heart and prayers are with the family and Ijaw nation he served. May God grant the soul of the departed eternal rest!”
