Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Funminiyi Afuye is dead.
Afuye, aged 66 died on Wednesday evening after battling cardiac arrest.
Yinka Oyebode, the Chief Press Secretary to the Ekiti State Governor, in a terse statement said the Speaker died at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital.
The late Afuye’s last public appearances were at the inauguration of Governor-Elect of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, on Sunday and Tuesday he chaired plenary before his demise on Wednesday.
The Speaker it was gathered died few days to his son’s wedding.
He was a former Commissioner of Information of Ekiti State and two-time member of the State Assembly.
The late Afuye was inaugurated as Speaker of the sixth Assembly on June 6, 2019, and his tenure would have elapsed June 6, 2023.
