A rebuilt statue of Jesus Christ, a symbol of peace in Evwreni community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State has been unveiled and dedicated to God.
The peace statue was unveiled on Sunday, August 7, 2022, shortly after the thanksgiving service organised in honour of the Delta State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon Samuel Mariere, on his recent appointment as Commissioner and a member of the Delta State Executive Council, held at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Evwreni.
The statue which was first built by the late Evangelist Cousin Mosheshe was destroyed by some hoodlums in the community.
On the appeal by Hon Mariere to Senator Ighoyota Amori to reconstruct the statue the project was built and delivered to the people of Evwreni with the sponsorship of Chief Amori.
Mr Onome Amori who represented his father said Chief Amori, officially unveiled the peace statue situated at the main entrance to the community.
He said his father feels fulfilled to have contributed to the community by the statue of peace while assuring them of more development in the nearest future.
The statue was dedicated to the glory of God by clergymen.
Hon Samuel Mariere, a two-term member of the Delta State House of Assembly, during his thanksgiving, said God has been a pillar of strength in his political journey, saying he will continue to thank God for His faithfulness to him no matter the situation.
He paid glowing tributes to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who he said God used to perfect His plans in his life, promising not to disappoint the governor and the people of Delta State.
