In furtherance of his commitment in promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ, a former Executive Director, Projects, (EDP) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Brother (Engr.) Samuel Adjogbe, PhD., FNSE, has built a new church complex for worship by the Church of Christ in Oviri-Ogor, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.
The new church building of the Church of Christ at Oviri-Ogor makes it the second to be singlehandedly financed by Brother Adjogbe, with the first at his hometown in Evwreni Kingdom also in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The Thanksgiving service and the official handover of the new church complex in Oviri-Ogor tagged “It Is The Lord’s Doing” took place on Sunday, July 16, 2023, the day which made it exactly one year since the commencement of the building project that began on Sunday, July 17, 2022.
Speaking during the church service, Brother Adjogbe, who is the President, Samuel Adjogbe Foundation said, “I was invited by a brother to worship with them at Oviri-Ogor in one of their weekly activities but I struggled to locate the venue after several calls I saw a signpost and I drove into the street where the church was previously located.
“Lo and behold, when I got there I saw that the place was not befitting. First, the place was very small and the building was also very small. So, I engage this brother and asked him if we can break down the building. So, as we were talking in that direction I asked if we can get another land. We later bought the land and I set up a project team.
“This is a great thing God has done and we are giving Him the glory. Please, let us key into this opportunity, you don’t need to have the whole world as your empire for you to be able to do something, especially in serving God. In your own little way try to do something for God.
“In the course of one year, there were financial challenges on my part; there were issues but every time I keep consoling myself that I have the assignment to deliver this project. When I want to become weak God opens a way for me.
“With serious management and engagement eventually we got to this point today. This building has been handed over to God for His name to be praised; for His gospel to be preached; for the people around here and everywhere else.
“We will continue to support the work of God. Start a small project like this and you will see how God will push it through for you. First of all, is the determination. Some people have billions but the willingness to release is the issue. So, test God, try God in that regard, sow into His vineyard and you will see how he will support you to accomplish it.”
Among the dignitaries that joined Brother Adjogbe for the Thanksgiving service was the Pioneer National Secretary of Traditional Rulers & Oil Mineral Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROMPCON) and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Prince Maikpobi Okareme, who noted that: “Whoever has been given the opportunity to have something by way of assisting the generality of the people, once that capacity has been given to an individual he owes it a responsibility to ensure that the work of God is made manifest.
“God does not come down from heaven to build infrastructure for people to have a free atmosphere to worship Him. Now that (Brother (Engr.) Samuel Adjogbe) has been able to do that where we went today, it is not the first one like we were told. First, he started with his direct community Evwreni.
“What he has done in Oviri-Ogor is not going to be the last. More will keep coming because God will continue to bless him to now do enough for the benefit of mankind.”
For his part, the Otota R’ Ode of Evwreni Kingdom, Chief F. A. Ayovwe described Brother Samuel Adjogbe as a developer noting that his kind gestures are not strange to him.
“He (Samuel Adjogbe) is a lover of peace and has a giving heart. The only thing we are to do for him is to keep praying for him. We thank him for what he has done.
“He has awarded scholarships to both the poor and the rich across the board not only in Evwreni Kingdom. He is God-sent to help people,” said Chief Ayovwe.
The Bishop, Evueta Congregation, Brother Edjekota Ophorokpa and Brother Paul Akpri ministered the word of God at the thanksgiving and official handing over of the new church building of the Church of Christ in Oviri-Ogor.
