The member representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Peter Uviejitobor has assured of more robust representation that will add value to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the constituency.
Addressing newsmen in Asaba on the second anniversary of the Seventh Assembly, Hon Uviejitobor, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources, said the House has done very well in its primary responsibilities, despite the Covid 19 pandemic and other unavoidable challenges.
Speaking on his stewardship as a second term member of the state legislature, Hon Uviejitobor, disclosed that the last six years as a member of the state legislature has been very eventful and expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other critical stakeholders of the supports, which he described as unprecedented.
The Lawmaker said he has co-sponsored several bills in the House, including Administration of Criminal Justice Bill, Delta State Internal Revenue Consolidation Law Amendment Bill, Delta State Consumer Rights Protection Agency Bill, Delta State Cancer Control Agency Bill and a bill for a Law to Establish a Building and Civil Engineering Materials Quality Control Laboratory Agency in Delta State.
He noted that his motion, which came under matters of urgent public importance on rainstorm disaster that affected Ogbe-Udu Community in Udu local government area was adopted after a rigorous debate and resolutions reached as a result of its merits.
Hon Uviejitobor disclosed that all the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 Constituency projects, have been duly completed, stressing that the projects were well spread across communities in Udu, while the execution of 2021 constituency projects will soon commence.
“The said Constituency projects which I earlier said cut across communities, include, Construction of block of six classroom at Aladja Grammar School, Construction of block of six classroom at Orhuwhorun High School, Construction of block of six classroom at Adadja Secondary School, Emadadja, Renovation of block of Six classroom at Ovwian secondary School, Renovation of block of six classroom with water tank at Owhrode Secondary School, Construction of block of six classroom with Water tank at Oghior Secondary School and Renovation of Examination Hall at Ovwian Secondary School, Ovwian.
“Others include Construction of block of Six Classroom at Ujevwu Grammar School, Construction of block of Six Classroom at Ubogo Secondary School, Construction of block of Six Classroom at Palama Primary School, Orhuwhorun, Construction of block of Six Classroom at Okpaka Secondary School, and distribution of School Desks and Office Furniture to various Schools in Udu,” Uviejitobor said.
In addition, the Lawmaker said “I influenced budgetary allocations of some other projects across four schools in Udu. They include, full renovations of Ovwian Secondary School, Egini grammar, Aladja grammar school and Construction of Science and Laboratory Hall at Ogbe-Udu Secondary School, Ogbe-Udu”.
Hon Uviejitobor noted that for the past six years, he placed different categories of constituents on monthly stipends amounting to over two million naira as well as empowerment of over 100 Udu youths in Computer Programme through the ‘Team Uviejitobor for Okowa Skill Acquisition Scheme in addition to the empowerment of over 80 Udu constituents enlisted into YAGEP and STEP programs of the state government.
He said following appropriate budgetary allocation from the state House of Assembly and the approval by Governor Okowa, some major roads in Udu were construction or rehabilitation during the period under review.
They include, Ovwian Main Road to DSC Expressway with Drainage, Ekete-Inland Road, Orhuworhun/Usiefrun/Ekrokpe Road, Aladja from the keep right Roundabout to Aladja Waterside, Express Junction, Orhuwhorun Road, Ovwian, Orhuwhorun Main Town Network of Roads, Ogodogu Road, Ovwian and the ongoing Construction of Aladja/Esaba Road.
Hon Uviejitobor also named renovation of block of Six Classroom at Egini Primary School, renovation of block of Six Classroom at Otor-Udu Primary School, renovation of block of Six Classroom at Orhuwhorun Primary School, construction of Ugbisi Primary School, Ugbisi, construction of block of Three Classroom at Ujevwu Primary School, renovation of Block of Six Toilets at Orhuwhorun Primary School, renovation of block of Four Classroom at Ukperhenren Primary School, renovation of block of Three Classroom at Ekrota Primary School, construction of block of Three Classroom at Ekete Waterside Primary School, construction of Solar Powered Water Project at Orhuwhorun Primary School and renovation of Aladja Primary School with provision of Solar Water Scheme at Aladja, among others carried out by the State Government and State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB as worthy of mention.
He said his several recommendations had also gotten many Udu sons and daughters admitted into various higher institutions across the country.
Hon Uviejitobor assured that as representative of the people, he will continue to strive to meet up with their yearning and aspiration, and would always provide them quality representation as promised during his electioneering campaigns.
