Ughelli North Local Government Legislative Arm has suspended three councillors for six legislative plenary sittings over allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of oath.
The suspended councillors include Hon. Festus Oke Inana (Orogun Ward 9), Hon. Oke Doris Isodje (Agbarho Ward 20), and Hon. Collins Oghenebrorhie Arhiakpore (Agbarha Ward 1).
According to a letter of suspension signed by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Tagbajumi Emmanuel, the decision was taken during a sitting of the legislative house held on Thursday, July 21, 2025.
The letter stated that the affected councillors are to appear before a four-man ad hoc disciplinary committee chaired by the Majority Leader, Hon. Ese Agbobore.
The committee, which also includes Hon. Israel Palmar, Hon. Eshanome, and Hon. Henry Omonigho (serving as Secretary), has been tasked to investigate the allegations and report back to the House within one month.
“Their suspension takes immediate effect,” the letter noted, adding that the councillors have been directed to stay away from all legislative activities pending the outcome of the investigation.
Presiding over the sitting, the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Prosper Okeoghene Ajero, reaffirmed the Legislative Arm’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and discipline in the discharge of its duties for the development and good governance of Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The suspension was endorsed by ten councillors, led by the Leader of the House.
