The National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of States Houses of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed the hope that the issues that led to the ongoing nationwide industrial action by the Parliamentary Staff Associations of Nigeria, PASAN, would soon be resolved.
Rt Hon Guwor in a telephone interview with Our Correspondent said critical stakeholders, including the leadership of the Conference of Speakers of States Legislature and the Governor’s Forum, are on top of the matter.
Guwor who is the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, explained that the target is to find an amicable and lasting solution to the impasse.
He stated that the 36 States Houses of Assembly are not happy that they are not holding their plenary as a result of the strike and expressed optimism of quick resolution of all contending issues.
Guwor noted that States Houses of Assembly are keen to perform their legislative duties, saying that the industrial action was hindering the constitutional functions of the legislature.
The Delta Speaker stressed that the leadership of the Conference of Speakers of States Legislature is not relenting in its effort to resolve the contentious issues as quickly as possible.
Guwor said he also believes that the leadership of PASAN may not want to unnecessarily prolong the strike, hence the expectation that the strike will be called off soon.
