The newly appointed Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Ferguson Onwo has been assigned Chairman, House Committee on Information.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who announced this at Wednesday’s plenary of the House, also named the member representing Isoko North Constituency, Hon Jude Ogbimi as Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Women Development, while the newly sworn-in member representing Isoko South One Constituency is the Chairman, House Committee on Power and Energy.
Rt Hon Oborevwori who also listed a number of committees where the three lawmakers, all from Isoko nation are Deputy Chairmen and members, said the appointments were in line with the relevant sections of the rules of the House.
The Speaker congratulated them for the appointments and charged them to face the challenges of their new assignments with all vigour.
Meantime, the member representing Isoko North Constituency, Hon Jude Ogbimi, has promised to give the task ahead of him as Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Women Affairs Development, the desired attention.
Reacting to the announcement of his appointments into several Standing Committees of the House, Hon Ogbimi commended the Speaker and the leadership of the House for the confidence reposed on him.
The lawmaker said Youth and Women Development has always been of top priority, saying that appointing him to oversee the Women Affairs Development in the state was a step in the right direction.
Hon Ogbimi also acknowledged the Okowa’s led government drive in the Housing sector in the state, promising to work in synergy with all other critical stakeholders towards moving the sector forward.
The lawmaker expressed happiness over the choice of Hon Ferguson Onwo as the new Majority Leader of the House and expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his love for Isoko nation and the development of the area.
Ogbimi congratulated Hon Onwo for his assumption of office as the House Majority Leader and promised all the support.
He also commended the people of Isoko nation for their commitment to the success of Okowa’s led administration in the state.
