Delta State Government says it is set to change the narrative in the water sector.
This, the government hopes to achieve through the establishment of more sustaining water supply and maintenance culture.
State Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Rt. Hon. Evelyn Oboro, stated this during the Ministry’s proposed 2022 budget defence with Delta State House Assembly Committee on Water Resources Development.
Hon. Oboro, who said that 2022 budget was designed to ensure inclusive growth in the water sector, noted that it was a state wide project which was not tied to a particular community.
The commissioner assured Deltans that the ministry under her watch would pursue the elimination of open defecation in the state.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon Peter Uviejitobor urged the ministry to ensure that all the water schemes were active so as to guarantee effective water supply in the state , adding the ministry should rehabilitate the water schemes that were not functional.
