Improved welfare of Deltans remains our top priority in Delta Assembly – Speaker Guwor

Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Emomotimi Guwor has reiterated the resolution of the State Legislature in partnering with other arms of government to ensure good governance, peace, and prosperity in the state.

The Speaker stated this Tuesday, in his office at the Assembly’s Complex in Asaba, when he played host to the Presiding Judge of the Asaba branch of National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice O.A Ogunbowale, who paid a courtesy visit to the State Assembly.

Flanked by some Principal Officers of the House including the Deputy Speaker, Arthur Akpowowo, Majority Leader, Emeka Nwaobi, Deputy Majority Leader, Festus Okoh, and Deputy Majority Whip, Prince Emeka Osamuta, Rt Hon Guwor said improved and sustainable welfare of Deltans remains a top priority in the State Assembly.

The Speaker explained that the symbiotic relationship between the three arms of government in Delta State was largely instrumental to the peace, robust infrastructural development, and social-economic growth and stability in the State

Stressing that the 8th Assembly under his watch would continue to strengthen its collaboration with relevant stakeholders towards the overall prosperity of the State, Guwor who is the National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, also posited that the State has been favoured by God.

He emphasized that the state does not take for granted God’s love for the people, hence the reason for an existing law that sets aside May 29, every year as a day of Thanksgiving to return all glory to God.

“Delta is one of the states we can boldly say that God loves so very much. That is indeed the reason we are succeeding here in Delta.

“The state remains on a path of growth, prosperity, and sustainable growth. Asaba is peaceful, the entire state is peaceful.

“We at the 8th Delta State House of Assembly shall continue to legislate for peace and good governance in the state and ensure that the state is very habitable for Deltans and visitors to the state.

“We will maintain strong synergy and collaborate with the Executive and Judiciary arms of government as well as every critical institution and stakeholder to ensure improved and sustainable welfare of the people, ” Guwor said.

The Speaker thanked the Honourable Justice of the National Industrial Court for the visit and her words of words of encouragement for peace, good governance, and development in the state.

Earlier in her brief remarks, the Presiding Judge, Asaba branch of National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice O.A. Ogunbowale, told the Speaker that the visit was to familiarize them with the office.

She disclosed her presence at the thanksgiving service held to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the 8th Assembly led by the Speaker and congratulated the House for achievements made thus far.

While urging members to remain focused on achieving more progress in the state, Justice Ogunbowale acknowledged the friendly atmosphere in Asaba and called for sustenance to encourage greater peace and development in the state.

She thanked the Speaker and his team for the warm reception.
