Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor has reassured the people of the state that the 8th Assembly under his leadership is committed to ensuring robust and people-oriented legislation.
Guwor gave the assurance when he played host to a delegation of his former classmates; Class of 2005, Religious Studies Department, Delta State University, Abraka, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Asaba.
The Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor, while addressing the delegation, attributed his current status to the handiwork of God and the University.
He promised to use his position as a lawmaker and Speaker of the State House of Assembly in impacting humanity positively.
Guwor particularly noted that the 8th Assembly under his leadership would strive in ensuring robust legislation that would improve on the education sector of the State.
The Speaker noted that looking back to where he started in politics as the representative of the department of Religious Studies in the Student Union Government, he must remain grateful to the department and the institution that made him.
Guwor emphasized that he remains eternally grateful to God for grooming him through the instrumentalities of the Religious Studies Department of the Delta State University.
His words, “looking back, I know where I started from. I must remain grateful to the institution(s) that made me. So, I remain eternally grateful to God for grooming me through the instrumentalities of the Religious Department of the Delta State University.
He promised never to turn his back against the Department, and the Delta State University, Abraka, saying that he would ensure that more efforts were made in the developmental projects of the School, his Alma Mata.
Guwor maintained that the State Assembly will ensure legislation that would continue to enhance the educational system of in Delta State.
“I make bold to say here that I will not turn my back against the Religious Department of the Delta State University Abraka, nor the School. I will ensure that we put more efforts in the developmental projects of the School; my Alma Mata.
“Here in the State Assembly, we will ensure legislation that would continue to enhance the educational system of our dear State.
“It is only God that elevated me to this position and by His Grace, I will use this position to impact positively on the lives of Deltans,” Guwor said.
The leader of the team and former coordinator of the Class, Mr. Bartholomew Akwaligbe told the Speaker that they were in his office to congratulate him on his emergence as Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
Mr Akwaligbe urged Guwor to remain a shining ambassador of the department of Religious Studies of Delta State University, Abraka.
The high point of the visit was an exchange of gifts by the Speaker and the visiting classmates mates.
