The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor has challenged youths in the State to as a matter of necessity, ensure that they prioritize the interest of the State in all their doings.
Guwor gave the charge in Asaba when he played host to some youth leaders in the State under the aegis of Delta State Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Forum.
Addressing the group who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Delta State House of Assembly Complex, the Speaker assured that he would continue to push and promote youth inclusion in governance from both the legislative angle and the Executive.
He said, “This visit shows that you are indeed happy that one of your own, a youth is currently the Speaker of the State Assembly. I want to assure you that I will not let the youths down. I will definitely make all of you proud. I will use my strength as a youth to impact positively humanity.
“I will ensure that there is youth inclusiveness in both the legislature and the Executive. We will ensure that youths are being carried along in the scheme of things. More importantly, I wish to ask that as youths, you should ensure that you put the State first in all your doings” Guwor emphasized.
The Speaker thanked the body for the visit and reiterated the commitment of the State Assembly for making laws for peace and good governance of the state.
Earlier in his address, the spokesperson of the delegation, Mr. Ovie Umuakpo told the Speaker that they were in his office to congratulate him on his emergence as Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
Mr Omuakpo used the occasion to enjoin the Speaker to ensure that youths were well accommodated in the ongoing appointments at both the Executive and legislative arms of government.
The Speaker, was joined by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, the Majority leader, Hon Emeka Nwaobi and others in receiving the visitors.
