The Hallowed Chamber of the Delta State House of Assembly, Tuesday, literarily erupted with wild jubilation as the Member representing Ughelli South Constituency, Hon Reuben Izeze Yakubu resumed sitting after barely three months absence from plenary.
Izeze, one of the most regular, punctual and vibrant legislators in the State Assembly, was last seen at plenary in December 2021, when the House adjourned plenary for Christmas and the new year break.
He was attacked by yet unknown gunmen in Effurun on 23rd December 2021.
Colleagues of Izeze, staff of the Assembly and others, including journalists covering the House were elated over the return of the lawmaker to the hallowed chamber.
Welcoming the lawmaker back to the hallowed chamber for resumed legislative assignment, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori thanked God for sparing the life of the Lawmaker, saying that God mercifully and miraculously saved Hon Izeze from his assailants.
Describing Izeze as one of the vibrant lawmakers in the State Legislature, the Speaker noted that the House missed his legislative inputs during the three month period of his absence.
He said the House is very happy to receive him back to the hallowed chamber, stressing that it is obvious that God is still interested in him and He had saved his life from the unfortunate incident.
The Speaker stated that he look forward to a day and date they will all gather to thank God for what He did for the House, the state, and the immediate family of Hon Izeze.
Emphasizing that there is no gainsaying the fact that the House missed him greatly, Rt Hon Oborevwori explained that members are happy that he is back and, very strong.
Earlier, under matter of personal explanation, Izeze expressed appreciation to God for sparing his life, just as he lauded the show of love exhibited by his colleagues during his travails.
Narrating the unfortunate incident of December 23, 2021, the lawmaker said, when he left Asaba for the Christmas break on that faithful day, he was in high spirit, but little did he know that the devil was having a different agenda.
Hon Izeze also thanked some critical stakeholders in the state for their prayers and support during the period of his trivial.
