As part of activities marking the 2nd anniversary of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor will lead a team of lawmakers in a novelty football match against the Delta State Executive Council on Friday, June 21, 2025.
The highly anticipated friendly, billed to take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, is expected to further strengthen the cordial relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government in the state.
Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, CPS, Nkem Nwaeke, in a statement entitled “Celebrating Unity and Service”, said the novelty football match is to further promote unity, teamwork, healthy competition and camaraderie amongst critical stakeholders in the Delta State Project.
Nwaeke disclosed that by the next day, Sunday, 22nd June 2025, the Speaker will lead members of the 8th Assembly on a special benediction service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 34 Headquarters, Unity Model Parish, behind Junior Staff Quarters, Asaba.
The CPS said the thanksgiving, scheduled for 10am and expected to be graced by dignitaries from far and near, will climax with a reception for guests immediately after at the Legislators’ Quarters, Okpanam Road, Asaba.
Nwaeke noted that the Special Praise and Worship programme will afford the Lawmakers the opportunity to express gratitude to God for two years of service and dedication to the people of Delta State.
The CPS called for massive participation of the public to demonstrate solidarity and shared joy as the 8th Delta State Assembly is committed to transparency, accountability, and the welfare of Deltans.
Nwaeke, therefore, on behalf of his boss, invited Deltans to join in the celebrations, geared towards fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
