The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday stood in the dock of the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba for cross-examination on his alleged certificate forgery and age falsification brought against him by a former PDP governorship aspirant, Chief Novwie Ikie.
NewsNet Nigeria gathered that during the cross-examination, Oborevwori told the court that he was the rightful owner of the WAEC certificate he is alleged to have forged.
To justify his ownership of the certificate, the Delta PDP gubernatorial candidate presented relevant documents as proof.
He further told the court that he was born in 1963 and not 1979 as erroneously contained in the certificate.
According to him, he had to swear to an affidavit and Deed Poll to correct the error in the date of the WAEC certificate.
The trial judge adjourned the case to February 22, 2023, after the defence lawyers closed their case for the adoption of written addresses by respective counsels.
