Olorogun John Nani, Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), has expressed profound sadness over the sudden death of Mr Sunday Kotor, Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
In a statement, Nani described Kotor’s demise as a “devastating loss to Delta State,” highlighting the late aide’s longstanding service to the government and the people.
He noted that Kotor’s vibrant presence at official functions and his role as a respected Master of Ceremonies helped shape the face of state protocol for more than two decades.
Olorogun Nani added that, “Kotor was more than a protocol officer; he was a trusted face of Delta’s official engagements and a friend to many in public service. It’s too early to answer the call of necessary end.”
Nani extended heartfelt condolences to Kotor’s family, friends, and associates, particularly acknowledging the grief of his immediate family.
The DESOPADEC chairman emphasised that Kotor’s legacy would endure in the memories of those who worked with him and in the many official occasions he anchored with distinction.
“His dedication to duty and his warm personality will be deeply missed in the corridors of power here in Asaba and across Delta State,” he added.
Mr. Kotor collapsed on Friday during a private event and was rushed to a medical facility, where efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful.
He was a graduate of Mass Communication from Delta State University, Abraka, hailed from Okwagbe in Ughievwen Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area, and had served under multiple administrations, earning wide recognition for his professionalism and passion for public service.
