Olorogun John Nani, Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, on his election as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.

Guwor emerged as Chairman of the Conference on Monday in Abuja during an extraordinary session of the body, where he was returned unopposed by his colleagues from across the 36 states of the federation.

His emergence follows his tenure as Treasurer of the Conference since 2023, a period widely acknowledged for diligence, prudence, and consensus-building.

In a felicitation message made available to journalists, Nani described Guwor’s election as “well-deserved and symbolic of Delta State’s growing influence in Nigeria’s legislative leadership.”

He noted that the Speaker’s rise to national prominence reflects years of consistent legislative discipline, inclusiveness, and commitment to democratic governance.

According to the DESOPADEC Chairman, Guwor’s leadership trajectory, from presiding over the Delta State House of Assembly to now coordinating Speakers nationwide, demonstrates a rare blend of humility, competence, and vision required at a time when Nigeria’s democracy demands strong sub-national institutions.

Nani further stated that Guwor’s election brings pride not only to Delta State but also to the oil-producing communities of the Niger Delta, stressing that his chairmanship offers an opportunity to strengthen legislative collaboration in addressing development, accountability, and equity across the federation.

He expressed confidence that under Guwor’s leadership, the Conference of Speakers would serve as a proactive platform for legislative reforms, capacity building, and constructive engagement with other arms of government, particularly in areas affecting grassroots development.

Olorogun Nani wished the new Chairman a successful tenure, assuring him of the support of DESOPADEC and stakeholders in Delta State as he undertakes the national assignment.
