Evangelist Samson Ufuoma Omoborayen has been elected as the new President General of Iwhrekan community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Omoborayen was elected on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Iwhrekan community town hall during the election for a new executive.

The election was monitored by representatives of the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development led by the Deputy Director, Community Affairs, Mr Friday Ekpo, and Ughelli South Local Government.

It was conducted under tight security as the military, Police as well as members of the Vigilante group of Nigeria were on ground to maintain peace and ensure a free electoral process.

Delegates and aspirants for the election were screened and accredited into the Iwhrekan town hall for the exercise.

Option A4 was adopted for the election for the position of the President General as Evangelist Samson Ufuoma Omoborayen pulled 15 votes to emerge winner ahead of Honourable Junior Arhavwarien and Mr. Raymond Oghenerobo Owoh, who scored three and two votes, respectively.

Announcing the result, the Chairman of the electoral Screening Committee for Iwhrekan Community Executive, Mr Nelson Gbagbeke, said candidates for other positions were elected unopposed.

Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government, Dr Lucky Avweromre, represented by the Secretary to the Council, Olorogun John Ewenede, commended the peaceful process of the election.

Dr. Avweromre said that all his administration wants from the Iwhrekan community is peace and security at all times.
