A group, Warri Concerned Youths For Peace, has called on Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) to stop heating up the polity of Warri metropolis and feigning ignorance.

The group described Tompolo’s statement distancing self from the shutdown of Oil Facility in Ogidigben, as reeking of cowardice and intentions to heat up the interethnic succour that has reigned in Warri metropolis for decades.

According to the group, Tompolo’s denial of his Tantita operations in the area shows that he lacks the power to take charge of situations as he claims which emphasizes the need for the Federal Government to have another look at his security contract.

A statement signed by Comrade Tuasor Eyekpimi in Warri stated, “Agreed that the reason behind the protest is the delineation exercise of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the system is heating up now because of the role of Tompolo in the matter altogether.

“Warri Metropolis has been in peace for decades now. The Supreme Court’s position on the exercise is clear. The INEC deposed to an affidavit on the matter. But certain elements are bent on destroying the peace,” the statement reads.

Recall that protesting Itsekiris, reportedly shutdown a 28,000 barrels per day crude oil facility, at about 5:00 am on Tuesday April 8 in Ogidigben, Ugborodo Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, over the perceived injustice recommended by INEC in the name of ward delineation in Warri Federal Constituency.

The angry Itsekiri men, women and youths stormed the facility, which was formerly operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, and recently acquired by Renaissance Africa Energy Holdings.
