High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has disowned a viral social media post claiming he gave the Federal Government a 21-day ultimatum to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement issued by his media consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo described the publication as fake and mischievous, insisting he had no connection whatsoever with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu.
“The attention of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has been drawn to the said publication, which is trending on some social media platforms. We wish to state unequivocally that Tompolo did not author the publication,” the statement said.
Dr. Bebenimibo accused unnamed individuals of fabricating the story in an attempt to tarnish Tompolo’s reputation because of his firm stance against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta.
“These people have failed and will continue to fail because he will not relent in his mission to completely eradicate illegal oil operations in the region,” he added.
Reaffirming Tompolo’s loyalty to the Federal Government, Bebenimibo said the ex-militant leader fully supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s renewed hope agenda.
“Tompolo remains solidly behind Mr. President and reaffirms his endorsement of him for a second term. He will continue to work for the realisation of that goal,” the statement read.
The public was therefore urged to disregard the fake post, as Tompolo remains committed to national peace, security, and the protection of Nigeria’s oil assets.
