Ighogbadu All Stars FC on Sunday, December 7, 2025, clinched the title in the 5-aside Mini Football Tournament at the second edition of the Africa for Peace Sports Festival.
The grand finale capped a one-month sporting fiesta held at the Africa for Peace Game Village in Ugolo Town, near Osubi Airport, Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State.
This year’s edition featured male and female teams across senior and junior categories, with a total prize pool of ₦10 million.
Ighogbadu All Stars secured the top prize of ₦1 million and a trophy, while Daudu United All Stars earned ₦500,000 for second place. Odedego FC finished third with ₦300,000.
Daudu FC bagged the senior best-behaved team award, with Pipeline Dragons taking the junior category. Prosper of Uyoko FC (jersey number 8) was named junior MVP, while Atutu of Daudu FC claimed senior MVP.
Otrukpe Atutu also finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 13 goals. In the junior division, Edwin Maminogo netted 10 goals to lead the chart.
The tournament delivered high drama from the opening whistle: Oyoka FC demolished DSC Allstars 12-2, while Fulani FC produced a stunning comeback from 0-3 down to edge Sky Bulls FC 6-5.
Beyond football, participants competed in gym fitness, snooker, table tennis, Scrabble, and a demonstration chess match, with events open to the 25-45 and 46-65 age brackets.
Sponsor of the festival, Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, PhD, CEO and National Coordinator of CEPEJ, said the event was designed to promote unity, peace, and talent discovery across Warri and its environs.
He urged multinational oil firms, private companies, and investors to support the initiative and take advantage of the restored peace in Warri.
“We’re here to discover the next generation of Nigerian stars,” Mulade said, reaffirming the festival’s commitment to unity. “Peace and stability have returned to Warri, and this festival shows what’s possible when we work together.”
