Billionaire industrialist and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, Olorogun Oscar Ibru, has died at the age of 67.
Arise TV reports that his family confirmed that he passed away after a brief illness, though no further details were disclosed.
A towering figure in Nigeria’s corporate world, Ibru was among the most prominent heirs of the illustrious Ibru dynasty.
He played a key role in sustaining and expanding the conglomerate founded by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru, whose business empire grew to span shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce.
Widely regarded as a visionary businessman and custodian of his family’s legacy, Oscar Ibru advanced the entrepreneurial spirit that made the Ibru Organisation one of Nigeria’s most recognisable corporate brands.
Under his leadership, the group remained not only a major source of jobs and wealth creation but also a contributor to philanthropic and cultural causes.
His passing marks another painful moment for the Ibru family, nearly a decade after the loss of its patriarch in 2016.
