The Delta State government on Tuesday morning commenced immunization against yellow fever in Idumuesah community in Ika North East Local Government Area.
NewsNet learnt that the exercise followed recent laboratory results from Samples collected from patients which points to yellow fever as the cause of about 22 ‘strange deaths’ with seven cases being managed at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba.
The communities seriously affected by the deaths are Ute-Okpu, Ute-Erumu and Idumuesah communities in Ika North East Council Area.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Mordi Ononye led a team of health officials comprising Dr Gloria Ferife, Dr Mrs Popo and others to supervise the immunization exercise at the Idumuesah Health Centre.
On ground to receive the commissioner and his team was the political leader in Idumuesah community, Dr Frank Nwugo Esq.
