Wife of Delta State Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has decried a trending video circulating on social media which claims that the family of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph, who recently gave birth to quintuplets, were neglected by the state government.
In a statement released by her media office on Tuesday, Deaconess Oborevwori described the video as misleading and emphasized that both her office and the Delta State Government had already rendered significant support to the family.
According to the statement, “Deaconess Oborevwori personally visited the Joseph family at their residence in the Ugbori area of Warri South Local Government Area shortly after the birth of the quintuplets.
“She was accompanied by the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Hon. Weyinmi Agbateyinro and his wife, Roli Agbateyinro.
“During the visit, Deaconess Oborevwori presented the family with cash gifts and essential materials. In addition, she handed over the keys to a fully stocked shop, based on Mrs Joseph’s request regarding the type of business she wished to operate.
“Beyond these gestures, she also paid five years’ rent for a three-bedroom flat in a decent and comfortable environment for the family”.
She noted that while calls for further assistance to the family cannot be entirely ruled out, such appeals should not be made in a manner that undermines or disregards the genuine and substantial support already provided by the state government.
Deaconess Oborevwori urged members of the public to verify information before sharing and assured that her office remains committed to supporting vulnerable families and newborns across Delta State.
