The ancient Agbarha Warri Community of Edjeba in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has declared war against drug abusers.
To this end, the executives of the community in collaboration with the staff of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Warri Command, members of Friends Against Drug Abuse (FADA) and War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) held an enlightenment campaign against drug abuse and sales of prohibited drugs in the community on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
The campaign was rounded off with a lecture on the adverse effects of abuse of drugs in Edjeba community hall.
Shortly before the lecture, the Unuevwodo (traditional representative of the Ovie of Agbarha Warri Kingdom) of Edjeba Community, High Chief Michael Cashier Ikpuri (JP) declared his total support for the war against drug abuse in the community.
“I give my total support to the war against drug abuse in Edjeba community in Agbarha Warri Kingdom.
“Drug abuse has rendered many children incapacitated in many ways. Drug abusers take pleasure in causing havoc in the society,” he added.
The Oghwuvwie (President) of the community, Comrade Ejiro Ibuakevwe, who spoke in the same vein disclosed that the community has entered into a partnership with NDLEA on the war against drug abuse in the area.
He warned that offenders will be prosecuted by the NDLEA according to law, no matter who was involved.
Ibuakevwe, therefore, warned that abusers and sellers of hard drugs should relocate from the community.
An official of NDLEA, Ellu Tosin affirmed the partnership between the agency and the community in the war against drug abuse.
While Ufuoma Ebireri of WADA pledged his NGO support to the war against drug abuse in the community which is host to Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) Warri, Government House Annex, College of Education and National Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), Warri.
