The deadly Delta variant of COVID-19 has continued to surge in Nigeria with the country recording 444 new cases and 7 deaths on Friday.
Out of the 444 new cases, Delta state recorded 16 cases.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Delta is the 13th state with the highest number of COVID-19 infected persons.
From the statistics, the state has recorded 3,003 confirmed cases since the pandemic broke out in Nigeria with 362 active cases and 85 fatalities while 2,556 persons who contracted the virus in the state have been discharged.
From the NCDC Dashboard, 444 new cases were reported from 21 states.
Neighbouring Edo state recorded the daily highest figure of 71 while Akwa Ibom among others reported 49.
So far, Nigeria has recorded 194,088 cases, discharged 179, 679 persons and recorded 2, 495 deaths in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
