Delta State Government has shut down Blessed Gifted Clinic and Hospital in Udu Local Government Area for operating illegally.
The Executive Assistant on Health Monitoring to the Governor, Dr Alexander Awunor, led his team to seal the unregistered facility at No. 71 Orhuwhorun Road.
Blessed Gifted Clinic and Hospital, located at No. 71 Orhuwhorun Road, Udu, was until Thursday, August 21, 2025, being run by a woman, whose identity is withheld, now in custody at the Ovwian Division of the Nigeria Police.
The unregistered facility boldly claimed to provide 24-hour emergency services, laboratory and ultrasound scans, yet without a qualified medical doctor or laboratory scientist.
The Health Monitoring Team, led by Dr Alexander Awunor and joined by the Warri Zone Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Dr Bright Djebah, discovered that the operator is a Biochemist who had, for five years, been treating patients, conducting deliveries, and even performing surgeries.
Shockingly, four babies under three months old were also found in a room, raising suspicions that the facility doubled as a baby factory.
Dr. Awunor told DRTV News that the woman was arrested while attempting to transfuse blood by bleeding a patient, describing her actions as dangerous and vowing she would be prosecuted.
Dr Djebah revealed that his team had earlier warned the operator three months ago to shut down the facility, but she rudely ignored the directive.
Dr. Awunor emphasised that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is passionate about the health of Deltans, hence his directive that all illegal health facilities in the state be sealed.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report such facilities to the government.
He further expressed confidence that the operator of Blessed Gifted Clinic and Hospital will face diligent prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
