President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dr Ifedayo Adetifa as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Recall that few days ago the position became vacant following the appointment of the former NCDC DG, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu as Assistant Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Ihekweazu is expected to be in charge of the Health Emergency Intelligence of the global health organisation with effect from November 1, 2021.
The appointment of Adetifa as the new DG of the NCDC was contained in a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Monday evening.
Ihekweazu was appointed of the NCDC by Buhari in August 2016.
The health agency new DG, Adetifa is a graduate of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
He obtained his MSc in Epidemiology at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands and holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the school.
