Guwor pledges more support for Delta Assembly workforce for enhanced productivity

Management and Staff of the Delta State House of Assembly have been assured of improved welfare in 2025.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, gave the assurance at an event to mark the end of the year organized for management and staff of the state Assembly, held at the State Assembly Complex, Asaba, the state capital.

Commending the board and management team as well as the entire workers under the auspices of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, for their commitment to duty, Rt Hon Guwor said the State Legislature would not have made it thus far if its working environment was tensioned with violence.

The Speaker stated that he was indeed grateful for the unity and support given to every member of the House in carrying out their duties and promised that come next year, more of their needs would be looked into as their happiness and conducive working environment would enhance their productivity.

He disclosed that His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has promised a facelift to physical infrastructure in the complex, including the Clinic, as well as to ensure the implementation of Consolidated Salary Structure, CONLESS, for PASAN members in Delta State come 2025.

On the issue of capacity building for staff, Rt Hon Guwor assured the workers that training and retraining would remain paramount as knowledge gained would enhance development and performances in the legislature.

He urged the staff not to look at the challenges of the past but to look forward to a better and more productive 2025.

Wishing all a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year, the Speaker charged them to show love and kindness to people, as love is the main reason for the season.

The Clerk of the House, Otto Aghoghophia, on behalf of the staff of the State Assembly, thanked the Speaker for his quality leadership style, promising unalloyed support to him and the leadership of the Assembly.

Otto reflected on several positive developments since Guwor assumed the leadership position of the House and expressed confidence in greater progress in the state legislature in the years ahead.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Guwor, has commended members of the 8th Assembly for their dedication to assigned duties.

Rt Hon Guwor who is the National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, stated this while addressing newsmen at the State Assembly Complex in Asaba.

The Speaker said he was indeed grateful for the speedy passage of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, stating that the Lawmaker’s dedication, exhibited their commitment to the MORE agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

He disclosed that in the outgoing 2024, the State legislature has been able to pass significant Bills and motions geared towards peace, good governance and sustainable development in the state.

Commending the Press for dedication to disseminating government policies and programmes, Guwor said the activities of the House would have remained in the dark if not for prompt and unbiased reportage of events in the House, including plenary, committee sittings and oversight duties.

Thanking members of the Press for their support, the Speaker sued for continued collaboration as partners in progress

In attendance for the end-of-year activities were members of the Delta State Assembly Service Commission led by its Chairman, Mr Sunday Ebirieri, as well as the Deputy Clerks and management of the Assembly.

The ceremony featured free medical care, Health talk, aerobatics and games by the staff.
