Aniocha Oshimili Elders Association (IZU KEI), a non-political group has urged the Federal, State and Local Government Councils to urgently upgrade and provide infrastructural facilities in its constituency particularly the Earth Dam at Ogwashi-Uku which was started by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources through Benin Owina Basin Authority, and handed over to Delta State Government for completion to ameliorate the acute water scarcity in the four local government areas of Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Oshimili North and Oshimili South.

These facts were contained in a research finding submitted by a team of researchers commissioned by the Association to visit all towns and villages in the four Local Government Areas to identify the infrastructural needs of the people which would be consequently presented to the appropriate authorities at the Federal, State and Local Government Levels in line with their constitutional mandates.

Various Local Government Research teams were headed by well-tested technocrats-Aniocha North was headed by Barr. (Chief)  Linus O. Nwaozomudu (CP Rtrd), Aniocha South, Prof. (Chief) Ike  Enwemnwa, Oshimili North Onwu James Ajufo and Oshimili South  Prof. (Chief) Leroy Edozien while Mr. Patrick O. Okenyi coordinated the report.

Receiving the report, the President of the Association, Sir Prince Clement Okonjo thanked the research teams noting that the infrastructural decay had made life unbearable and devastating to the wellbeing of the people in the area.

Okonjo noted that the Association which was formed some years ago and registered with the Cooperate Affairs Commission had arranged the report according to the constitutional mandates adding that the Federal Government would be presented with issues of road, security and electricity.

According to him, the State Government is expected to massively open up roads leading to towns and villages and the provision of needed facilities in the health and education sectors stressing that security and unemployment require attention too.

He noted further that while the Local Government Councils would be involved in the above areas they are also expected to focus more seriously on building Modern Markets.

Sir Okonjo informed members that the report will be sent to various governments for action and also to be presented to the  Senator Representing Delta North Senatorial Districts, Senator Ned  Nwoko, Member, Aniocha/Oshimili Federal House of  Representatives, Hon. Chris Okolie, the four Delta State House of  Assembly Representatives, The Four Commissioners and Political  Appointees from the areas. Also included are the Local  Government Chairman who are closer to the people.

It would be noted that in line with one of its objectives, the Association has been promoting peaceful co-existence by regular visits to Traditional Rulers to broker peace.

Aniocha Oshimili Elders Association is a body functioning like the Onu Ika of Ika Federal Constituency and Ndokwa Nne Kwu of  Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency, all established for the benefit of the people.
