A newly appointed Justice of Peace from Ebedei-Umueziogoli community in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, Pastor Friday Nnamdi Ikani, JP has stressed the need for effective synergy among leaders in the community in order to ensure meaningful development.
Ikani made the call at the palace of the Okpala-uku of Umueziogoli community, Pa. Silver Odigili during a meeting he convened with the community leaders and youths of the community.
He told his kinsmen that the Delta State Government had found him worthy and appointed him a Justice of Peace, noting that he would use his position to advance peace not only in his Umueziogoli community but the society at large.
He stated that peace and unity are essential for the growth and development of the community, adding that every individual in Umueziogoli community should embrace useful ideas that would bring positive transformation of the community.
Ikani, who commended the Chairman of Ebedei-Umueziogoli Stakeholders’ Committee, Mr. Monday Ineh and his executive members for their critical role towards bringing everybody together and ensure that the community has only one recognized Okpala-uku.
In their separate remarks, some community leaders including the Okpala-uku of Umueziogoli, represented by his son, Mr. Onyeka Odigili ,Chief Louis Ubiame, Chief Ben Moore and the Committee Chairman, Mr. Anthony Nwabike appreciated Pastor Friday Ikani, JP for his passion for the upliftment of the community, just as they congratulated him on his appointment as a Justice of Peace.
While saying that his appointment was well deserved, they described the recognition as a welcome development and a good thing to the community.
At Umutu Police Station Pastor Friday Ikani, JP led the newly elected Umueziogoli youth chairman, Comrade Celestine Esumobi and some of his executive members to introduce them to the Divisional Police Officer, CSP B.M Yakubu where he later signed warrants, he said that the DPO was one of the best that had ever been posted to the station.
Ikani explained that Police and the community youths as well as Vigilante members were supposed to be working together and have a cordial working relationship for proper security and policing of any community.
Responding, the Umutu Divisional Police Officer, CSP B.M Yakubu reiterated his resolve to provide security in Ebedei-Umueziogoli, Umutu and other communities within his jurisdiction.
Yakubu advised community led by the Chairman of Umueziogoli Stakeholders Committee, Mr. Monday Ineh , the youths and vigilante members to always work the Police, emphasizing that there might be certain issues that demand the professional approach of the Police to handle and get results seamlessly.
He urged the Youth Chairman of Ebedei-Umueziogoli community to harmonize with all individuals and groups and propagate peace in the community.
