A one-time aspirant for the Delta Central Senatorial District seat on the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief (Captain) Anthony Onoharigho has dumped the party.

Onoharigho announced his quitting from the PDP today Monday, March 6, 2023, in his resignation letter addressed to the PDP chairman for Abraka Ward 3 in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

In the letter, Onoharigho who is the Chief Executive Officer of Conarina Maritime Academy situated at Oria Abraka also announced his resignation as a member of the Board of Directors of the School of Marine, Burutu in Burutu Local Government Area of the state saying “the PDP has been hijacked by some members, who have turned it to their personal empire, where they hold sway as emperors.”

He wrote below:

This is to formally notify you of my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party  (PDP), with effect from today, Monday, March 6th, 2023.

As a high-placed member of the PDP in the State, who has worked tirelessly, contested for the Senate position in 2011 and spent my hard-earned resources to help build the Party over the years, I regret to say that the PDP has been hijacked by some members, who have turned it to their personal empire, where they hold sway as emperors.

The PDP has regrettably lost the spark which made it attractive to me, who had always believed that the Party truly belonged to the people. But today, however, the reverse has become the case, with a few people arrogating to themselves the power to do and undo in the Party, without regards to the feelings of the generality of the members. This reign of impunity is repulsive to natural justice and is unacceptable to me.

Given the above anomalies, I find it extremely difficult to continue to belong to the  Party, and, therefore, I must take my exit now.

I also use this medium to announce the resignation of my membership on the Board of Directors of the School of Marine, Burutu.
