Some shops at the popular lgbudu Market on Bazunu street in Warri, Delta State have been razed by fire.
Though the cause of the fire which occurred on Saturday, May 6, 2023, is yet to be ascertained, Godwin Ose, who resides in the area claimed that the fire started when the public power supply was restored at about 1 am.
Another source, who preferred to be anonymous, said the fire went out of control as only a few people came out to offer help as most people were already in the comfort of their beds due to the all-night rain.
He said that men of the Delta State Fire Service came to the scene by 2.00 am but were unable to extinguish the fire until a call was put through to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to switch off power supply to the area.
NewsNet Nigeria gathered that one of the household shop owners who came to the scene fainted seeing the level of damage to her shop.
