Federal High Court orders criminal summon on Evwreni monarch, Delta Commissioner, others

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered a “criminal summon” on the embattled Ovie of the Evwreni Kingdom in Delta State, HRM Oghenekevwe Owin Kumane, Eruvwedede III over the killing of Prince Muvi Unagha.

Also affected by the Court Order are the Delta State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Samuel Oghenevwogaga Mariere and nine others.

The presiding judge, Justice A. R. Mohammed who gave the order on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, adjourned the matter to July 18, 2023, for all defendants to appear in Court.

The suit marked FHC/ABJ/ CR/401/2022 has Sani Bagudu as the prosecution counsel and Oladimeji F. Ekemba standing for the 1st defendant Peter Okuah (Gameboy), Joseph Okome Mraibure, Wisdom Agboro, Inerhi Sylvester, Ochuko Kumane, Kaide Kumane, Hon. Ezekiel Odiemor, Christopher Ozuaka (Adolf Hitler) and Chief John Iyu.

In the charge paper sighted by NewsNet Nigeria signed by the Director, Public Prosecutions of the Federation, M. B. Abubakar and others on behalf of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation, the Evwreni monarch, Hon. Mariere and the nine other accused persons are standing trial on six-count charges which include: “acts of terrorism by attacking and causing the death of MUVI UNAGHA” and “participated and committed acts of terrorism by seriously intimidating Evwreni community by burning down over thirteen houses and destruction of properties worth millions of naira in Evwreni Kingdom in Ughelli North L.G.A Delta State“.

Recall that the Ovie of Evwreni Kingdom, Eruvwedede III and two others were docked by a Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State sometime in October 2022.

The monarch was granted bail by the presiding judge, Justice Abang Okon, in the sum of Ten million naira (N10,000,000.00) upon the prosecutor’s withdrawal of a motion to discontinue the charge filed by the Police.
