Mr Fredrick Ighoshemusua, the immediate past President-General of Ukpiovwin community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State had made arrangements to commission his hotel on Sunday, August 1, 2021, but he did not live to see that day and smile at the reward of his effort.

He joined his ancestors at a time life should have been sweetest to him.

NewsNet investigation revealed that the life of Ighoshemusua was cut short on Thursday, July 29, 2021, by a member of the vigilante in the area few hours after he successfully handed over to his successor (name withheld) at a colourful ceremony that took place at the community square.

It was gathered that the deceased PG had gone back home after the handing over ceremony but decided later around 4pm to join his successor’s celebration at a reception held at the Ukpiovwin Secondary school.

A dependable source told NewsNet that late Ighoshemusua was about taking photographs with the new PG of the community when the bullet from the vigilante, Mr David Power hit him.

He fell down and died instantly.

The source said the new PG was lucky to have escaped the gunshot because a woman suddenly drew his attention and the bullet wheezed pass.

Angered by the death of their former PG, some members of the community descended heavily on the vigilante who passed out in the process.

According to our source, the late Ighoshemusua had before the handing over ceremony received a text message informing him of his death immediately after the ceremony.

He was said to be a warlord who severally defended Ukpiovwin community especially during the communal conflict between the community and Oghior, a neighbouring community.

When contacted, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident.
