The Lagos branch of the Evwreni Clan Improvement Union (ECIU) has successfully concluded its much awaited election on Sunday, January 2, 2026.
It was conducted in accordance with Article 14, Section B of the union’s constitution.
The election, keenly contested, culminated in the emergence of a new executive council tasked with steering the union towards community development and members’ welfare.
At the end of the exercise, Dr. Sunday Okpako was elected President, with Mr. Awenoma Ekpu as Vice President, Ighorodje Joseph as Secretary, and Mrs. Veronica Edewhosa as Welfare Officer I.
Other notable positions filled include Peace Julius as Publicity Secretary, Veronica Abodo as Welfare Officer II, Mrs. Victoria Kpemeku as Women Leader, Monday Ajose as Treasurer, and Lovelyn Ophion as Financial Secretary.
The election drew a large turnout, with prominent community members in attendance, including Elder Donatus Uba, Olorogun Emmanuel Edekunu, and octogenarian Pa Etaware John, among others.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Okpako emphasized that the new administration will prioritize community development and the welfare of members, promising an era of active engagement and impactful initiatives.
Other notable attendees at the event included Mrs. Esther Etaware, Jeff Oghenovo, Ivy Laguda Arueya, Chief Emmanuel Edekunu, Jerry Ukaniemovigho, Clifford Ake, and Steven Okpako, among a host of others, reflecting the union’s strong and committed membership base.
The new executive council officially assumes office with the mandate to enhance the welfare of the Evwreni community and drive sustainable development initiatives in Lagos and beyond.
