Ethiope East Constituency: I didn’t step down for Majemite, says Inoni

A vibrant aspirant for the Ethiope East Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly come 2023, Hon. Inoni Emmanuel says it is untrue that he has stepped down for Chief Faith Majemite, who is also vying for the same position.

Hon. Inoni in a phone chat with NewsNet Nigeria urged members of the public particularly his grassroots supporters to disregard the rumour as he has not stepped down for anybody.

He said he is still very much in the race despite the consensus reached during a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the Ward 6 & 10 Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area, which went in favour of Chief Faith Majemite.

Hon. Inoni explained that he accepted the decision in good faith based on the fact that it was a decision from his leaders, which he will consider aligning, but unfortunately, it was erroneously presented especially on the social media to imply stepping down.

According to him, “The party at the Ward level requested for alignment with her choice but that alignment later didn’t work as my camp didn’t accept it but her camp was already excited that I had stepped down.

“Considering the fact that all resolutions reached must be duly communicated to my supporters in this struggle, it becomes obvious that the option of alignment with any fellow aspirant truly negates my primary intention of coming into the race and putting the vast interest of the people first. There was no stepdown agreement reached anywhere.”

Continuing, Inoni disclosed that his supporters also rejected any form of alignment to guarantee his victory at the primaries bearing in mind that if there be anyone to be voted for it would be him.

The Ethiope East House of Assembly hopeful opined that he did not bargain any terms or deal of stepping down with anybody and so, he is not contemplating doing so for any reason whatsoever after coming this far with a singular mission and vision for a total transformation of the area and his people.

“I have brighter chances of clinching the PDP House of Assembly ticket for Ethiope East Constituency at the party’s primary now scheduled for Wednesday, May 18th 2022.

“As a God-fearing leader, my primary intention is to liberate the constituency from poor governance which can be achieved through the support of the other 9 wards.

“I told them at the meeting that I was interested in running the race to the end despite the consensus option,” Inoni echoed.
