The growing refuse heap on the NPA Expressway by Niger Cat junction in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state has continued to spread to other parts of the ever-busy road despite appeals from residents to the Uvwie Council Authorities to urgently evacuate the garbage.
The heap of refuse currently poses serious health hazards to residents of the area including commuters who ply the route on daily basis.
The huge debris is fast spreading with scavengers seen around burrowing through the heap with petroleum tankers competing for the remaining available space on the road.
Commuters expressed disappointment over the alleged refusal of the Uvwie Council Chairman, Mr Ramson Onoyake to clear the refuse despite repeated appeals to him.
Efforts to reach Mr Onoyake on his mobile telephone on the issue were unsuccessful.
